The Birth of Ishta

It is said that when you truly desire something and would go to any extent to make it happen, the entire Universe conspires to manifest it for you. Ishta is a manifestation of our desire to share the beauty and culture of Idukki. Ishta’s story starts with a couple who retired from Dubai and went back to Kerala. It is said that when one chapter closes, the other begins. In 2016, this couple happened to stay in Idukki and visit the Ponmudi  Dam and Munnar Plantations. There was a piece of land overlooking the beauty of nature where the couple stood with their morning coffee and enjoyed the sunrise. They desired to own a holiday home in that place. When the wheels started turning and everything started to fall into place, they realized they did not want to keep the place all to themselves. They wanted to share the beauty and serenity with everyone.

The concept, floor plan, interiors, and even the garden were all conceptualized by the family with a devotion that is rarely found these days.  There were long exhilarating mornings and evenings where the family came together to sketch Ishta from scratch. Lao Tzu has said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and that is so true in the birth of Ishta.

In 2018, Ishta Resort was completed and opened its doors to travelers. Ishta means 'love'. It also stands for dream, desire, and divine, and that's what we want to convey to every passionate person out there. Every inch of Ishta was made with unconditional love. When you step into Ishta, you will feel the overflowing love with which this place was made for sharing our culture with travelers.  Ishta is the representation of how beautiful life can be when we decide to share our blessings with the world.

Ishta stands as an inspiration for everyone who has dared to dream. Ishta shows that all your desires can come true if you believe in yourself and work towards it. Ishta represents the saying by Karen Salmansohn “Believe in what you want so much that it has no choice but to materialize”
